staff tenure

Kia ora tatou;

This week, we had the privilege of celebrating the long service of five very special members of our Green Bay High School staff. Together, they have given an incredible 140 years of dedication to our school and community.

  • Sandy Begg (Deputy Principal) – 40 years
  • Geoff Hall (Careers Counsellor) – 35 years
  • Julie Southey (Attendance Officer) – 25 years
  • Megan Cawte (Science Technician) – 20 years
  • Chris Woodward (Associate Principal) – 20 years

    Each of these staff members has made a lasting contribution to the life of GBHS - shaping learning, supporting students and families, and building the culture that makes our school such a special place. Their commitment, wisdom and care have touched generations of students, and we are deeply grateful for all they continue to give.

    This week also saw our Year 9 cohort begin their Beach Ed trips, an important part of their learning outside the classroom. These days are a great opportunity for students to learn practical water safety skills, teamwork, and further connect with other Year 9 students, and I am grateful to PE teacher Michelle Finch and all staff for organising and supporting these trips.

    Last night, we held our final Whānau Hui for the year, which was a wonderful opportunity to meet some of the families who will be joining our GBHS community next year. It’s always exciting to look ahead and begin building those relationships early.

    Enjoy your weekend,
    Fiona Barker
