Mandarin Speaking EAL (English as an Additional Language) Teacher Aide
A vacancy exists for a Mandarin-speaking EAL (English as an Additional Language) Teacher Aide to join our team, commencing Term 1, 2026, for 20 hours per week (times to be agreed).
This is a term-time only position.
Green Bay High School is seeking a part-time Chinese-speaking Teacher Aide to support Mandarin and/or Cantonese-speaking EAL students, as well as selected MELAA students who are at risk of not meeting NCEA expectations. The role includes in-class academic and language support, assisting learners to confidently engage with mainstream learning and wider school life, and strengthening communication with their families. The successful candidate will possess skills in supporting English language learners in a NZ school context, assisting with enrolments and orientation for new families, communicating effectively with Chinese-speaking parents and caregivers, working collaboratively with teachers, and demonstrating cultural awareness, patience, initiative, and strong organisational skills. You will be part of a dynamic and proactive team that works hard to support the EAL learners in our school.

Head Basketball Coach
Green Bay High School is seeking an enthusiastic, experienced, and values-driven Head Coach to lead our Basketball Programme for the 2026–2027 seasons. This is an exciting opportunity to shape the future of basketball at GBHS, grow a strong playing pathway, and inspire our athletes both on and off the court.
Key Responsibilities: The successful applicant will be expected to:
- Lead the Senior Open Men’s Basketball Team throughout the season.
- Develop and oversee a sustainable programme, including building a strong roster and progression pathway.
- Appoint and mentor volunteer Senior Reserves and Junior Coaches to support the wider basketball programme.
- Plan and deliver high-quality training sessions that promote skill development, teamwork, and competitive performance.
- Proactively seek competitions, tournaments, and development opportunities for our teams.
- Attend relevant coaching clinics to support professional growth.
- Communicate regularly with the Director of Sport regarding results, team progress, player achievements, and programme needs.
- Provide an end-of-season review in consultation with the Director of Sport. Approx 8 hours per week in season
We’re looking for:
- A coach with proven basketball coaching experience at secondary school or higher level.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
- Someone passionate about developing young athletes and fostering a positive team environment.
