Reporting an Absence

Regular attendance provides the best opportunity for students to be successful in their learning.

If your child is unable to attend school, please inform us as soon as possible by Reporting an Absence (Unwell / Arriving Late / Leaving Early for an Appointment).

  1. Log onto the GBHS Web Portal using your unique login and password.
  2. Click on the "Absence Report" page.
  3. In the "Absence Type" field, select the reason in the drop-down list that describes why your child will be absent from school: Late, Illness/Medical, Doctor/Dentist, Appointment, Other (Unjustified)
  4. Type in the reason your child will be absent and add your name to the last field.
  5. Click the "Submit Absence" button. Your absence report will be sent to the school's Student Management System.

Helpful Hints:
• The Absence Report feature is only for reporting daily absences - that is, your child will be absent 'today', so it does not ask for a date.
• Absence Reports submitted after 5pm will be recorded for 'tomorrow'.
• The Absence Report feature can NOT be used for reporting extended absences (absences that are longer than one day). If your child will be away for a period of time, you will need to contact the school directly to advise them.
• To help speed up your wait time when signing your child out of school for an appointment, please submit the "Absence Report > Appointment" details BEFORE collecting your child.

Forgotten your login details? Contact us - we are happy to help! Phone the school office: 817-8173 ext 201.
