Strategic Priorities:
Within the Green Bay High School Strategic Plan is the goal to “Increase student attendance at Green Bay High School”. The Ministry of Education goal is to have 80% of students across the country attend their school 90% of the time by 2030.
We recognise the emotional and social benefits to attending school regularly and aim to work with families to allow students to develop an ongoing positive relationship with our school. Across all levels higher attendance is linked to higher academic achievement. Communication is key, both to enable us to explain what we do and also to listen to families to see how we can help with improving attendance for our students.
Green Bay High School’s Attendance Management Plan (AMP) to allow a stepped response to achieve this improved attendance is attached here. The annual plans for attendance are set to lift attendance to and then above the Ministry's target figure over the next four years. The steps to promote good attendance are based around positive communication and in-house reward systems. The steps to address absence will use the Ministry of Education’s Stepped Attendance Response (STAR) procedure.
