Kia ora e te whānau;

I am so proud of our talented visual art students and the dedicated Visual Arts teachers at GBHS. Art is a deeply personal passion, and the exceptional quality of work our students produce reflects the time, dedication and creativity they pour into their workbooks and folios. We’ve already shared the fantastic NCEA and scholarship results of our Visual Arts students, and this week, we received the exciting news that the work of four of our former students is being showcased nationwide. Congratulations to Alyssa Rutherfurd, Margaux Fernandez, Ani Haukau-Allport, and Keagan Scott-Woods - your achievements are inspiring, and I can’t wait to see what the future holds for each of you.

This week, our five Student Councils at GBHS - Academic, Arts, Culture, Service, and Sport - came together for the first time in 2025. What I love about our Student Council is the diverse groups of students who put their hand up to get involved. Every Council chooses a project or event they want to bring to life at GBHS and works throughout the year to make it happen. The enthusiasm and passion these students bring are truly inspiring, and I look forward to sharing their ideas and achievements with you throughout the term.

Have a great weekend.
