karaka award principals intro

Kia ora e te whānau; It’s been a fantastic week both in and out of the classroom!

As we wrap up our summer sports season, I want to acknowledge those students who take part in early morning tennis sessions on the turf, our volleyball teams for their early starts and late nights as they prepare for tournaments, and our cricket teams who have remained committed throughout the season. It's exciting to see a record number of students stepping up for winter trials and pre-season training. The dedication and enthusiasm from our student athletes has been great to see, with early morning and evening sessions in full swing. The commitment from our students is stronger than ever, and we can’t wait to see the results of their hard work in the season ahead.

A special congratulations to students Felix Shaw and Stella Raccuglia, along with staff member Fiona Drummond, for receiving the Karaka Award in recognition of their dedication to our local environment. Their efforts truly embody our school values, and we are incredibly proud of them!

As we approach the end of the term, I’m preparing for an exciting 12-week sabbatical. During this time, I’ll be visiting schools in Finland, France, and New Zealand, exploring the unique ways they foster and grow their school cultures within their community. I look forward to coming back having had lots of different experiences and ideas. In my absence, Associate Principal Chris Woodward will step into the Principal’s role and I know he will do a great job.

Have a great weekend.
Fiona Barker, PRINCIPAL
