Kia ora e te whānau. This week has been the last full week of classes for our senior students before they head off on study leave to prepare for their external examinations. It's a special time of year, with so much to celebrate, as well as the inevitable farewells ahead.
On Thursday, a group of our students competed in EVolocity, a competition that challenges young people to design, build and race electric vehicles. Our students achieved some excellent results, coming away with an impressive collection of awards. It was great to see their hard work throughout the year pay off. Congratulations to everyone involved, and a big thank you to Aaron Povey, who has supported them throughout the year.
On Monday, we will hold our final assemblies for Years 11 and 12, followed by our Year 13 informal graduation that evening. We will also have the opportunity to celebrate student achievements at our Senior Awards Ceremonies for Years 11 and 12 on Wednesday 4 November.
Monday evening will be a special occasion for our Year 13 students as they mark the end of their regular classes at Green Bay High School. For many, it brings to a close five years of learning, friendships and experiences. They have contributed to our school in so many ways, and the informal graduation gives us a chance to reflect on their time here and celebrate together before exams begin. It has been a privilege to watch our Year 13 students grow into the young people they are today, and I am so proud of all they have achieved. We will have another opportunity to celebrate their success at our formal graduation in December.
Of course, there is still important work ahead, with NCEA examinations just around the corner. I encourage all our senior students to make the most of the time remaining to prepare and give themselves the best opportunity to achieve the results they are capable of.
I wish all our senior students the very best for their exams and look forward to celebrating their achievements as the year draws to a close
Ngā mihi nui,
