Kia ora tatou; This week we had the privilege of welcoming the Education Review Office into GBHS. I was very proud to show them the work we do every day and to share the many things that make our school community special.
During their visit, the ERO team met with students, teachers, and school leaders. Although they were only with us for a short time, they were able to gain a meaningful snapshot of our school, the learning taking place, the relationships that sit at the heart of our work, and the care and commitment shown by staff and students across GBHS.
I want to thank everyone who contributed to the visit. Our students spoke with honesty and confidence, our staff shared their work with pride, and school leaders were able to talk about both our strengths and the areas we continue to grow. It was a good opportunity to reflect on the progress we are making and the values that guide us as a school.
This week I also had the pleasure of attending a celebration of academic achievement for students from ethnic communities. The event was hosted by Auckland Council and Welcoming Communities, and it was wonderful to see two of our students, Suryaansh Mishra and Vridhi Takkar, recognised for their achievements. Their success is a credit to them and their whānau, and we are very proud of the effort, perseverance, and commitment they have shown.
Weeks like this are a reminder of the strength of our school community. Whether it is through learning, leadership, service, culture, or personal growth, our students continue to give us many reasons to be proud. Have a great weekend
