SCIENCE TECHNICIAN Availability: Term time only with some holiday work potential.
About the Role:
The Science Technician works alongside a Senior Technician and plays a key role in delivering high-quality technical and administrative support to the Science Faculty. This position supports teachers by ensuring that practical lessons are well-planned, well-resourced, and carried out safely and efficiently.
Working closely with senior science staff, the role helps relieve pressure on teaching staff and contributes to a smooth and organised delivery of all practical components across the department.
Beyond technical support, the role includes assisting with managing the overall organisation of laboratory spaces, equipment, and safety processes.
The science department is moving into a brand new architecturally designed science block later this year. The new block comprises 6 labs and 12 general teaching spaces, as well as fit-for-purpose technician's workrooms and storage rooms over three levels. This role will assist with setting up and shaping the new spaces.
Key Responsibilities: - Prepare, set up, pack down, and deliver materials and equipment for all science practicals.
- Maintain, inventory, and safely store laboratory equipment, chemicals, and resources.
- Oversee day-to-day management of laboratory spaces, ensuring they are clean, orderly, and compliant with safety standards.
- Ensure adherence to health and safety regulations, including maintaining safety documentation and facilitating safe laboratory practices.
- Coordinate the efficient sharing and use of equipment across the Science Faculty.
We’re looking for someone who is: - Highly organised, efficient, and able to manage multiple tasks in a busy environment.
- Knowledgeable in laboratory procedures and safety practices (or willing to undertake training).
- A strong communicator who enjoys working collaboratively with teaching staff.
- Detail-oriented, proactive, and confident in managing both technical and administrative aspects of the role.
- Positive, reliable, and committed to supporting high-quality science teaching and learning.

EAL (ENGLISH AS A SECOND LANGUAGE) TEACHER AIDE - MANDARIN SPEAKING
A vacancy exists for a Mandarin-speaking EAL (English as an Additional Language) Teacher Aide to join our team, commencing Term 2 (May), 2026, for 20 hours per week (times to be agreed).
This is a term time only position.
Green Bay High School is seeking a part-time Chinese speaking Teacher Aide to support Mandarin and/or Cantonese-speaking EAL students, as well as selected MELAA students who are at risk of not meeting NCEA expectations. The role includes in-class academic and language support, assisting learners to confidently engage with mainstream learning and wider school life, and strengthening communication with their families.
The successful candidate will possess skills in supporting English language learners in a NZ school context, assisting with enrolments and orientation for new families, communicating effectively with Chinese-speaking parents and caregivers, working collaboratively with teachers, and demonstrating cultural awareness, patience, initiative, and strong organisational skills.
You will be part of a dynamic and proactive team that works hard to support the EAL learners in our school.
