Kia ora e te whānau; We’ve had some fantastic news this week, with the Ministry of Education approving the construction of a new 18 classroom block. The new Science block will be constructed close to the current Technology block, which is at the back of the school site. This news is hot off the press, so we will let you know more details soon!
You’ll also notice 12 new temporary classrooms arriving on the top field (closest to Godley Road) over the next few weeks, which will be ready for us to use in 2025. It’s great that we are getting these new rooms because our school roll has continued to grow and next year, we will likely have over 1800 students attending GBHS. While it’s not ideal that these rooms are taking up field space, it’s the only place to temporarily hold the number of rooms we need.
Over the holidays we are getting a major upgrade to our network as part of the school Network (N4L) upgrade programme. This will future-proof our school and improve our network speed and capabilities school-wide. While this work is underway, it does mean that there will be limited staff onsite, therefore no phones will be operating. If you urgently need to make contact, email will be the best way to get in touch.
It’s been an action-packed term, and I am really proud of all that our students and staff have achieved.
Looking forward to seeing you next term.
