BIOLOGY DISSECTIONS:
02BIOLOGY students have been dissecting fish and locusts as part of an assessment.
Students are currently comparing how different animals (insects, fish and mammals) get oxygen for respiration. The dissections have been used to compare the gas exchange surfaces for two of those animals. Next term students will get to dissect the lungs and hearts of sheep.
As you can see in these images, these lessons are popular, interesting, and engaging!
Prior to each dissection, the class says a Karakia to acknowledge and show respect to the animals about to be dissected (Note: Specimens are not live).
