MIGRANT FAMILY HUI:

On Tuesday night (2 July), GBHS hosted its first-ever Migrant family hui.

This was well attended with over 14 families representing countries and ethnicities from around the world.

The overwhelming response from our migrant families was happiness. Not only were they happy to be at the hui, and to feel welcome at our school, but in feedback received from our migrant families regarding how they find success at GBHS, the word happiness came up repeatedly: they want their children to be happy at school.

During the hui, helpful information was shared, including useful staff to know, where families can find important information in Schoolbridge, upcoming school events, the basics of NCEA and career/university pathways for migrant students.

A future hui will be held with more in-depth information on NCEA and career/uni pathways for migrant students.
