Kia ora tatou; The weather has certainly not been kind this week, but there has still been plenty happening around the school.
One of the great things currently underway is our Service Council-led can drive. The Service Council has set a goal of collecting 200 cans and non-perishable food items to support the Salvation Army’s food banks. So far, 50 cans have been donated, which is a great start, but with one week to go, it would be fantastic to see our school community help them reach their target.
There are House points up for grabs, which has added some healthy competition, but more importantly, this is a practical way for our students to support others in the wider community.
We know that not everyone will be in a position to contribute, but for those who are able, even one or two items would make a real difference. Donations can be brought to the school library next week. Let’s get behind the Service Council and help them finish the term well.
Next week is the final week of term. It has been a full and busy term, and it would be good to finish well, with students staying focused, looking after one another, and making the most of the last few days before the break.
Looking ahead to Term 3, our Open Evening will be held on Wednesday, 22 July from 3.30pm to 7.00pm (please note that school will be closing for instruction at the earlier time of 12.30pm).
Our Open Evening is always a good opportunity to welcome prospective students and whānau into the school, show them around, and give them a sense of who we are. If you know families who are considering GBHS for 2027, please encourage them to come along.
Have a great weekend.
