Congratulations to the GBHS Cross Country team, who proudly represented the school at the New Zealand Secondary Schools' Cross Country Championships held in Wellington from 19–21 June.
Our athletes demonstrated outstanding school values throughout the event; courage, respect, responsiveness and excellence were all on display as they competed against some of the country’s best secondary school runners.
The championships provided a fantastic opportunity to test themselves against top competition while proudly representing Green Bay High School on the national stage.
Many of these students also represented Auckland in the relay portion of the event on Sunday, another awesome achievement for our Cross Country team.
The students representing Green Bay High School were Vida Albanez, Finn Birch, Connor Bush, Illinois Cooney, Laken Cooney, Danika Kearins, Kayla Kearins, Henry Klimetz, Sofia Maulvurfs, Elijah McDermott, Alistair Peterson, Brian Pham, and Marina Zheng.
A special congratulations goes to Elijah McDermott, who delivered an outstanding performance to finish 5th overall in the Year 9 Boys race, an exceptional achievement at a national championship.
A big thank you to Kris Maulvurfs for all the support you’ve given our cross-country programme throughout the season. We really appreciate everything you do for our athletes. Thanks also to Jon Kearins for helping out during the championships. Your support was greatly appreciated as well.
Well done to all our runners for their hard work, determination, and the way they represented Green Bay High School. We are incredibly proud of everything you achieved in Wellington.
