GBHS Newsletter (25 August 2023)

It’s been a fantastic week and the sunshine over the past two days has made a welcome change! This week saw over 60 students head down to Ruapehu for the level 2 snow trip and from the photos we have seen, it looks like the conditions on the mountain were perfect.

Next week we have 5 teams travelling to different parts of the North Island to take part in winter tournaments run by College Sport. I’m looking forward to hearing reports across the week as the tournaments progress and I know that our teams will be great representatives of GBHS.

The Board of Trustees is starting work on the next strategic plan and would love to hear what you think. There is a quick survey in the newsletter item below that asks about the different attributes you think students should leave school with - the information gathered will be used in the initial stage of Board planning.

Practice exams start for senior students on September 7th and finish on September 15th - there is more detailed information in the newsletter item below. I want to reiterate the importance of senior students sitting all of their practice exams. These exams are great preparation for the external exams in term 4, helping students and teachers to identify areas of strength and areas of challenge that need additional work. If for some reason a student isn’t able to sit their external exam in term 4, their results in the upcoming practice exams is the only information we can use to support a derived exam application.

Have a great weekend, Fiona Barker, PRINCIPAL
