Inspirational Visit from NZ Author

Year 9 and Year 10 students welcomed Grace Iwashita-Taylor (curator of Silo Theatre's Upu) to class recently, as part of the Read NZ, Writers in Schools Programme.

Grace, who is also the author of poetry collections Afakasi Speaks, Full Broken Bloom, and the play My Own Darling, shared with junior and senior writers her experiences, reading poetry and telling the back story behind the creation of each piece.

Students were left inspired and more knowledgeable about being a creative writer.

Grace is also co-founder of the South Auckland Poets Collective and Rising Voices Youth Poetry Slam.
