GBHS Newsletter (Week 4: 30 October - 3 November 2023)
The Year 11 and 12 Awards Ceremony took place on Monday and was a real celebration of our students. We recognised those students in Years 11 and 12 who had excelled academically and in vocational pathways, those students whose service has had a positive impact both at GBHS and beyond, and those students who received our most prestigious honours awards. It is always wonderful to be reminded of the talent we have in our school and I congratulate all 2023 recipients.
November is always a busy time and, ahead of the start of NCEA external exams next week, I really want to give a big shout out to all of our students who are working hard and trying their best. While many are feeling confident ahead of the exam period, there are always some students who find preparing and sitting exams really hard. It takes courage and resilience to keep going and I am proud of the efforts you are putting in. Also, well done to the Year 10 students who completed their NCEA literacy and numeracy assessments this week!
The inaugural Kōtuitui Kapa Haka festival took place on Thursday and it was absolutely fantastic. I loved seeing all our local schools together and the standard of performance was awesome. Thanks to GEIS for hosting and I am already looking forward to next year.
Have a great weekend, Fiona Barker PRINCIPAL
