Orienteering Championships

Congratulations to Year 10 students: Aidan Barrett-Hamilton, Cormac Gray and Tsubaki Moore for their efforts and results in the Oceania Orienteering Championships and the Australian Schools' Orienteering Championships, held in Canberra, Australia.

All three students achieved outstanding results, competing against approx 200 athletes.

Tsubaki and Cormac were in the NZ Schools' Development Team and Aidan was in the NZ Schools' Team (which won the entire schools competition - beating all the Australian State teams).

Tsubaski's best result was 11 in the Oceania Sprint.

Cormac was very consistent across the entire 10 days, and his best result was 6th in the Schools Sprint.

Aidan finished in the top 10 in each race (7 races overall) and got to the podium twice: in the schools relay (3rd) and 2nd in the Oceania sprint distance.

This was an amazing experience - orienteering through a course complete with wallabies and kangaroos, as well as the ever-present worry about snakes!
