Belonging Matters

Mental Health Awareness Week in New Zealand takes place from October 12 to 18, 2026, organised by the Mental Health Foundation of New Zealand.
With support from Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora, the campaign aims to shine a light on positive mental health and encourage people to adopt simple, everyday actions that boost wellbeing. Click HERE for more information.
Violet Rigby (Yr 11) one of our student librarians, created a wonderful initiative for mental health week, where students/teacher could write what they felt grateful for and place their notes into a large gratitude jar. We have filled up two gratitude jars over the two weeks it has been running (last week of last term, and this week!).
Throughout the week, our school counselling team organised Mental Health activities and promoted Belonging with FREE haircuts (self-care), and sharing snippets from the Mental Health Awareness organisation newsletter. Our school PB4L team also provided staff with a hot breakfast to kick-start their day.
