REMINDER: EARLY CLOSING / PPTA STRIKE ACTION

Green Bay High School will be closing at the earlier time of 1.15pm on Wednesday, 5 November 2025 (due to the PPTA nationwide strike - taking place from 1:15pm to 3:15pm on that day).

Important Note:

The Level 2 Geography and the Level 3 English exams on that day ARE NOT impacted by this industrial action.

The board has carefully considered the availability of non-union teaching staff and unfortunately has decided that we cannot provide normal instruction during the strike day.

So that we can support our PPTA colleagues and also get through with as little disruption for students' learning as possible, there will be a slight adjustment to the timings of the school day, as listed below:

  • Period 1 (normal time) 8.40am - 9.40am
  • Period 2 (normal time) 9.45am - 10.45am
  • Interval:10:45am to 11:10am
  • (There will be no form time)
  • Period 3: 11:10am to 12:10pm
  • Period 4 from 12:15pm to 1:15pm
  • End of school day: 1.15pm

Parents/caregivers of YEAR 9 (and/or) YEAR 10 students who require supervision at school during days of strike action, are to please contact Deputy Principal Sandy Begg via email (or) phone 817-8173 ext 216 to make arrangements. Please note that students who are supervised at school will be working online and independently.

You can find out more about the strike on the PPTA website: www.ppta.org.nz
