Green Bay High School is very pleased to announce Lucy Edmonds is a recipient of the 2024 Margaret and John Kalman Charitable Trust Mathematics Teaching Prize.
Lucy currently teaches junior Maths and senior Statistics.
The Margaret and John Kalman Charitable Trust generously donates $30,000+ each year to recognise the achievements of Primary, Intermediate and Secondary school Mathematics and Statistics teachers in New Zealand. John Kalman was a professor of Mathematics at the University of Auckland from 1964 to 1993, and a leading promoter of Mathematics in New Zealand.
This year, 6 prizes of $5000 were available.
The selection panel was pleased to note that all applications were of an exceptionally high standard, making selection of the prize recipients an extremely challenging task. All applicants are commended on their dedication to the teaching of Mathematics and Statistics and for their generosity in sharing their ideas with the wider mathematics community.
The judging panel includes a representative from the Margaret and John Kalman Charitable Trust, a representative of the Executive of the Primary Mathematics Association (PMA) and/or the University of Auckland, and a representative from the Department of Mathematics at the University of Auckland.
As a result of this award, Lucy is proud to share her innovations and expertise in the teaching of Mathematics and Statistics with the wider teaching community, through professional development events organised by the Primary Mathematics Association (PMA) and the Auckland Mathematical Association (AMA).
