With NCEA exams about to begin, this is a friendly reminder that students will need to plan ahead to avoid traffic congestion due to the Huia 1 Watermain upgrade affecting Atkinson Road, Titirangi Bus routes and bus stops.

The following information regarding road closures is taken directly from the Watercare website:

What’s happening now? Atkinson Road, Titirangi Bus routes and bus stops impacted by this work: From late October 2022, we will begin essential works in your area. The current pipeline is aging and needs to be replaced by a larger one to ensure the ongoing delivery of essential water services. We will start installing the new watermain pipeline using a trenching method along Atkinson Road. Works will start from the road outside 64 Atkinson Road – with a road closure in place from 60 Atkinson Road. We will be working our way up the road to the intersection of Atkinson Road and Daffodil Street. We estimate the works will reach Daffodil Street by April 2023.

The works will be done in three stages: Stage 1: 31 October to 22 December 2022 with the road closed between 60 Atkinson Road Titirangi to the Atkinson Road/Kaurilands Road intersection.

Stage 2: 9 January to 7 February 2023 with the road closed between the Atkinson Road/Kaurilands Road intersection and Woodfern Crescent.

Stage 3: 7 February to April 2023 with the road closed from Woodfern Crescent to Daffodil Street, with a diversion in place around Woodfern Crescent.

The above dates are an estimate and are subject to change.

From April 2023 we will move back to Daffodil Street and finish the section between the Daffodil/Atkinson intersection and Kawaka Street. Working hours will be from 7am to 6.30pm, Monday to Friday and 7am to 2pm on Saturday including some statutory holidays.
