From Friday to Sunday last week, our Girls' Squash Team represented the school at the NZSS Squash Champs in Christchurch. The team were originally seeded 13th, but after an outstanding 3-2 win in their first game of the tournament against 7th seed, Wairarapa College, they were through to the top 8! They finished 8th overall and surpassed their original seeding by a landslide! Congratulations to Lilly Jamieson, Miriama Brown, Mathilda Kearney, Anna Brown and Ollie Schamrel on their efforts.
Our First XI Football Boys kept Liston College at bay on Friday with some excellent defending and ending in a nil-all draw, and on Saturday, six out of eight of our Boys' Football teams came away with the win; those are some great stats!
The Junior Netball teams finished their last pool-game on Saturday, with over half finishing in a Top 4 position. Semi-Finals commence this coming Saturday, we wish all our teams the best of luck!
And well done to our U60s Rugby Boys who had a strong 19-8 win over Macleans College.
On Thursday last week and Tuesday this week, our Senior and Junior badminton squads competed at the Auckland Badminton Singles/Doubles Champs, held at Auckland Badminton Centre in Newmarket. Our Junior Doubles Boys, Mont Lai and Eben Speakman, had a successful round-robin and progressed to a thrilling quarter-final where they only missed out by one point, with the final score 21-20 to Botany Downs. Jana Krishnakumar also had a stand-out performance and was captivating to watch, with a great game played against one of her international rep teammates in her pool. Well done to all our senior and junior students who competed!
After a hard earned 44-25 win against Lynfield College, the Premier Netball Girls are through to the 1B 1st/2nd Final! They will take on Western Springs College once again in what we expect to be a close thriller. The game is next Tuesday 18 August and starts at 5:30pm at Te Pai Netball Centre on indoor court 1, let's get the masses out there to watch!
As of Wednesday, the Girls' Football season has wrapped up as the Tournament Week preparations begin. All three girls' teams finished their seasons on a high: a 4-2 win for the 2nd XI Girls last week, and a 2-1 win for both the 9A Girls and 1st XI Girls on Wednesday!
Basketball has now also wrapped up for the season, with all teams playing their finals this week. Congratulations to the U17 Girls, U17 Green Boys, Junior Green Boys and the U19 Open A Boys who have all finished in the Top 10 of their grades! Our U19 Open Boys now build for the Northern Cup which is held from 29-31 August.
We kickstart the weekend with a Friday afternoon away game against Botany Downs for our First XI Boys Football; a win in this game would help secure their place in the A2 grade for next season. The 14 Development Football Boys play off for 1st/2nd place against Avondale College this Saturday, will they win the league two years in a row??? The 14A Football Boys are playing a Semi-Final against Liston College, catch them here at school at 9am on Saturday!
Our U85s Rugby Boys also have a home game, playing at school at 10am on Saturday.
