Ecomatters: Second Bite / Jack Johnson's Ohana Foundation

GBHS's Green Impact group is a valued part of the Carbon Cycle Composting Second Bite food waste initiative.

In association with Ecomatters' local community composting programme, food scraps from businesses go to local schools and community gardens to help feed the soil, grow more food and support education about food and composting.

Second Bite has now processed more than 100,000kgs of food scraps from businesses through their community composting hubs!

Do you know of local schools, marae and/or community groups who would like to get started with composting and growing food? Ecomatters has a fundraising drive underway to help them get started.

Ecomatters has been chosen by Jack Johnson's Ohana Foundation to match every dollar raised by 31 December 2026 up to US$2,500!
