GBHS's Premier Advanced Debating

GBHS's Premier Advanced Debating team has placed 3rd overall in the Grand Final of the Auckland Schools' Debating Premier Advanced competition!

This is the first time in GBHS history (that we are aware of) that GBHS has advanced to the outrounds of the Premier Advanced grade - the top grade of debating in Auckland.

Krisha Karippail received a top speaker award, placing 8th overall in the Premier Advanced grade.

Krisha and Keya were also selected as adjudicators for the Auckland Intermediate Debating Championships, held last weekend, and were on the panel for the Grand Final (Emma was the Chair). As Krisha was the most qualified debater on the panel, it was her job to introduce and moderate the debate and the room of spectators.

"Because the adjudicator panel ended up splitting 4-4 on who the winner should be, the debate went to whoever the Chair (me) voted for," says Krisha.

"I also got to announce those results to the room, which was really fun and exciting!"
