Health & Illness Awareness
GBHS's Registered Nursing team are continuing to see respiratory illnesses and other viral infections as we move into spring. Health comes first, so please keep students at home when they are unwell and allow them to recover before returning to school. This supports their recovery and helps prevent illness from spreading to other students and staff.
With Influenza A currently circulating widely and making some students quite unwell, we also encourage families to remain vigilant for the signs and symptoms of meningococcal disease. There have been recent cases reported in the country, including in Auckland.
Meningococcal disease can develop quickly and can be very serious, so please familiarise yourself with the signs and symptoms and seek urgent medical attention if you are concerned. Please click HERE for more information.

Listed below are some flu and viral illness fact sheets for families, with information on symptoms, prevention and when to seek further advice. We encourage families to take a moment to have a look at these resources.
