It's been another great week of GBHS Sport!
Six out of the nine Football Boys' teams won their games over the weekend which are great stats! Unfortunately, our lst XI Boys' Football had a tough 3-0 defeat against Long Bay College, but it was a great game to watch.
Wednesday afternoon saw an awesome win for our lst XI Football girls' team with a win 2-0 over Saint Cuthbert's. They now progress on to the next round of competition, creeping closer to a promotion into the next grade up.
GBHS's 9A Netball team have found their groove and came away with a stunning 63-14 win over Waiōrea on Saturday. Our 10B Netball team also had a great game against Kelston Girls' College, overcoming some challenging calls to win the game 23-9.
Our Senior Netball teams had a great run on Tuesday night, with most of our teams winning their games. Our Premier team won against Avondale College 31-24; Senior A won against Western Springs College 30-26; and Senior B won against Kaipara College 30-17.
On Wednesday, we had our third and final Squash One Day Tournament. Our Boys' team competed in the Open grade and came second overall, and our Girls' team came first in their grade overall. All of the Squash players who have competed in these tournaments have achieved great results and represented the school with pride.
The Boys' Hockey team started their Term 3 9-a-side competition this week against Rutherford College, with some Waitakere players joining both sides for numbers. A great show of camaraderie between schools! Our Girls' Hockey team played Henderson High School yesterday for their first game of Term 3.
This afternoon (Friday 25 July), our lst XI Boys' Football team take on Ormiston College for an away game.
This weekend (Saturday 26 July) sees our remaining Boys' Football and Junior Girls' Netball teams taking place - as well as our Rugby teams who will be in action for their first games of Term 3, with a Home game for the U70s Boys at 9.15am. See you there!
