Thursday's Challenge: "If a = 26, b = 25, c = 24 and so on, what is the word-sum of apple?" Answer: The value of a letter is 27 minus its standard alphabetical position (where 'a' is 1, 'b' is 2, etc.). For 'a': 27-1-=26. For 'p': 27-16=11. For 'l': 27-12=15. For 'e': 27-5=22. Calculate the word-sum of the values of all letters in "apple". ANSWER:The word-sum of "apple" is 85. The winners were:
- Year 10: Florence Murphy
- Year 11: Angel Pasco
- Year 11: Chihiro Shikai
