BWB - Internship (Law)
Thursday, 31st July 2025 at 1:20pm
Congratulations to Krisha Karippail (Yr 12) on her successful selection to complete a two-year internship with BWB Leadership Initiatives and Global Education Destinations.
Fellow GBHS student, Nora Vastag (Year 11) was also offered an internship opportunity for Law with BWB - however has decided not to take up the opportunity this year, and will apply again next year for public health.
"I am more passionate about the public health internship, which was not offered this year due to a lack of interest."
With multiple paths and internships offered by Leadership Initiatives based in different fields, Krisha has chosen the International Law and Advocacy internship, focussing on human rights, social justice, and community development initiatives in underserved communities.
The internship is run by Leadership Initiatives, who are a collaborator with Global Education Destinations (the company that runs Buddies Without Borders) and have internship seats reserved for Buddies Without Borders that are fully paid for, which is how I applied for the internship. It will run from August 2025 to April 2026, with the option to continue for another year if I choose to."
Krisha has been selected to be the Team Lead, and will be responsible for her team’s registration, scheduling team meetings and taking attendance. Krisha will be the the point of contact for her teams Leadership Initiatives Internship Project Coordinator and Mentor.
"My team and I will collaborate with LI Project Coordinators in northern Nigeria to tackle a specific issue(s)," says Krisha, adding they will design and perform targeted research, informed by our experts on the ground, develop awareness campaigns, craft community workshops, build advocacy networks, and much more.
"In the past, this has included child rights, gender equality, access to education, and combating systemic injustices like gender-based violence."
Upon completing her internship, Krisha will be well and truly on her way to follow a career pathway of her choice. BWB internships offer a number of benefits valued at around $3000 - inlcuding personal scholarship application assistance and guidance, two letters of recommendation, up to five university application essays reviewed and edited by staff at University Connection, premium SAT/ACT preparation resources, university acceptance likelihood modelling for her chosen top universities, eligibility for an exclusive scholarship for a program at Georgetown University (Washington D.C., USA), personalised leadership training, and resume editing assistance.
"These benefits all carry forward for up to six years after the program ends, and I can use them in relation to studying for a Bachelors or Masters degree."
