COMMONWEATLH EPEE:

Congratulations to Jack Hansen (Yr 13) and Travis West-Hill (Yr 12) who represented New Zealand in the Commonwealth U17 and U20s respectively in Christchurch recently, with 13 countries competing.

Jack was part of the 5 person NZ team that won silver in the U20s team event, facing a very dominant English team in the final.

Jack finished 17th in his individual event, with a narrow loss in his Direct Elimination bout to a fellow New Zealander and friend. In his poule, Jack competed with fencers from Cyprus, India, England, South Africa and Australia.

Travis competed in both the U17 individual event - finishing 28th, and in the U20 event a few days later. Travis finished 27th in the U20s and was pleased with how he fenced.

Travis also finished 10th out of a large field of 54 epeeists in the Australian National U17s in the first week of the holidays and fenced as part of the New Zealand team winning a bronze medal.
