Winter Tournament Week

Monday, 29th August 2022 at 8:00am

Winter Tournament Week is well underway and GBHS has had an enjoyable and successful week thus far!

The following sports roundup was sent to us by GBHS Sports Director, Hamish Mackay, currently in sunny Whangarei.

Wrestling - Alex Suddens (Year 10) won gold in the junior U57kg division at the NZ secondary schools champs and silver in the U61kg division. Congratulations!

Football Girls 1st XI - competing at Fred Taylor Park, the team has had 2 wins, 3 losses and are playing off for 7th - 12th with games v Kaipara and Albany senior today.

Netball - competing at UNISS at Howick Pakuranga courts and have had several very close games and 1 draw so far with the team improving and playing some great Netball. Plenty of Netball to still be played with games v Long Bay and Katikati today.

Football Boys' 1st XI - competing in Whangarei, this team had had 2 wins and 2 losses so far and are playing some great football to match. Year 9 student Mikey Judd chimed in with 2 goals in yesterday's victory. Today they have 2 games with the first v Whangapaoroa.

Climbing - Our school climbing team competed at Rocktopia (Mt Maunganui) over 2 days across three disciplines. Florian Koopmanschap (Year 10) placed 10th overall, Ezra Walker (Year 10) placed 14th and Bianca O'Keefe (Year 11) placed 20th.

All the best to those students competing for the rest of the week, thanks again to all staff, coaches, managers and supporters giving up their time.
