The Physics of Circus comes to GBHS!
Our young Physics enthusiasts were treated to a gravity-defying show today, when the Physics of Circus came to town.
Presented by Professor Peter Bier, from the University of Auckland, 'The Physics of Circus' covered how the principles of physics are used by circus clowns to perform their stunts. He discusses the torques needed for an individual to balance on a unicycle (used in level 2 physics), how devil sticks can cause a yo-yo to go in a circular motion (used in level 3 physics), and much, much more.
