GBHS's Year 13 Photography and Painting students participated in the Pat Hanly Creative Project at Auckland Art Gallery Toi o Tāmaki, earlier this week.
The trip included an inspirational day at the Gallery, with workshops led by artist Reuben Paterson, and a tour through the exhibitions.
Students learned about the influence of Auckland’s west coast beaches and how the black sand has inspired some of Reuben Paterson’s projects.
All students who participated will have the opportunity to enter an artwork into the Pat Hanly Creativity Awards. The theme for inspiration is Ko au te taiao / I am the environment. At least one artwork from each school will be selected for the Pat Hanly Creativity Awards Exhibition at Auckland Art Gallery Toi o Tāmaki.
The Young Gallery Night celebration and exhibition opening event, taking place on Friday, 7 August from 6–9pm, is open to all participating students, teachers, family, and friends. This event celebrates young creatives and will include food, music, dancing, and art activations.
