GBHS's Year 11 Commerce students recently enjoyed an exciting and educational trip to Auckland Zoo as part of their preparation for the upcoming internal assessment, 'Demonstrate Understanding of an Organisation's Financial Decision-Making.'

The visit provided students with a valuable opportunity to investigate how a large organisation operates as a business while balancing its conservation, education, and visitor experience goals. Throughout the day, students explored the zoo's facilities and gathered information about the financial decisions involved in running a major attraction, including pricing, staffing, and habitat maintenance.

Students were able to see firsthand how financial decision-making impacts both the success of the organisation and the services it provides to the community. The experience brought many of the concepts studied in class to life and gave students practical examples they can draw upon in their assessment work.
