Keya Parekh (Year 13) is passionate about making a difference!
We are very pleased to share the news that Keya has been successful in her application as a High School Ambassador (HSA) for UNYouth Auckland, 2026.
Being an HSA will provide Keya with the opportunity to grow as a young leader, while connecting with like-minded peers across Auckland and beyond.
Keya's role as HSA involves actively promoting UNYouth events and programmes within our school, and reporting to UNYouth about GBHS’s student participation and engagement within a wide range of Youth United Nation events.
“I hope to inspire fellow students to ensure youth voices are involved in policy-making on a global scale,” says Keya.
“Part of my role involves setting up a ‘Model United Nations Club’ at our school via the GBHS Student Hub, where I will post opportunities for those interested and support students with their applications.”
The High School Ambassadors (HSA) Programme is designed to empower young changemakers to champion civic engagement in their own schools and communities.
Examples of upcoming events are:
• New Zealand Model United Nations (NZMUN) - held in Wellington over four days, with teams of secondary school students coming together to represent international political relations.
• Raise Your Voice (RYV) - a one-day civic engagement workshop designed to equip youth with the tools, confidence, and platforms to shape the future of their city.
• Aotearoa Youth Declaration - civics education conference, where students from across the country come together to shape a youth-led vision for the future of Aotearoa.
• Solveathon - focusing on a key area of government such as health, justice, education and proposing solutions.
• Aotearoa Youth Declaration - proposals from the Solveathon help to form a document that reflects the collective voice and values of New Zealand youth.
Be sure to keep an eye on the GBHS Student Hub for more information - coming soon!
