Gymsports Comp

Congratulations to Elijah Parsons (Yr 9) and Kelsey Cookson (Yr 10), who represented GBHS at the College Sport Gymsports Championships yesterday, held at the Bruce Pullman Park Sports Complex.

This interschool competition sees students from various schools demonstrating their skills in a range of gymnastic disciplines.

Elijah placed first overall in the Artistic category (including Floor, Pommel, Vault, P Bar, High Bar, and Rings), and Kelsey placed 4th in the Artistic category (including Trampolining, Tumbling).

Elijah and Kelsey heard about the event through their Gymnastics Club, Tri Star, in Mt Roskill and spoke to the GBHS Sports department, who promptly encouraged them to compete and registered them as a GBHS entry.

Elijah began gymnastics at just 2 years of age, and says his favourite discipline is High Bar. Kelsey's strengths are Floor and Tumbling - both involving a lot of upper body strength, shoulder endurance, and rhythmic precision.

Kelsey and Elijah are currently training for their upcoming competition, to be held at the end of the month (27 June) at Tri Star Gymnastics Club.
