Fukuoka Friendship Garden Spring Working Bee:
This July marks the 40th anniversary of sister city relations between Auckland and Fukuoka, Japan.
Fukuoka gifted a Japanese garden to Auckland in 1989. The original oasis was built by master gardeners from Japan and was located inside the Auckland Zoo. It is now located on the corner of the Auckland Zoo car park, as you walk into Western Springs.
To prepare the garden for upcoming celebrations, an Autumn working bee was held over the weekend with 34 volunteers, including GBHS students Lewis Robinson, Mizuki Yamaguchi and a group of international students from Japan.
It's great to see our students volunteering their time in the community!
