Green Bay High School would like to thank Watts & Hughes Construction, and Jasmax Auckland, for their ongoing support of our Gateway Construction, Level 3 Design and Visual Communication, and Level 3 Construction students.
Last month, GBHS Gateway construction students were privileged to receive hands-on experience with Watts & Hughes Construction, working on parts of our new Science Block as part of their Gateway work experience.
Level 3 DVC students were recently introduced to the Jasmax architectural firm, Watts & Hughes, as well as several other architectural designers and artists during one of GBHS's Kawhe and Korero career-chat sessions. This was followed up by a tour of the new science construction project, led by Daniel Gunnell, project manager for Watts & Hughes Construction.
03DVC students and DVC teacher Gerald Le Mesurier were also invited to visit the Jasmax architectural offices and design studios in Parnell. Jasmax is the design lead of the new Science block. Thank you to Tracey Church and Kate Bradley of Jasmax for organising this fantastic experience.
Students heard from various Jasmax employees across different disciplines, including engineering, interior design, and project management. This was followed by a tour of the vast design studios, where students saw employees hard at work implementing plans and bringing ideas to life.
Level 3 Construction students were invited to a site visit of the new science block, led by Gerrard Chambers, site manager for Watts & Hughes Construction. This was a wonderful opportunity for our students to see the many different stages a major construction project goes through.
