Play It Strange Finalist

The musical partnership of GBHS's Bonnie Govier (Year 10) and best friend Lorena Ivanov (Baradene College) has secured them a place in the Play It Strange Junior Songwriting Competition!

The talented duo are Finalists in the Year 9-11 category and have an opportunity to record in a professional studio, with their song to be later released on Spotify.

Their song is called 'Threads of Us' and is about heritage with a touch of Russian lyrics.

Bonnie Govier shares "Our culture is an important part of our lives. It's about the threads of culture that bind us together."

The 2025 Play It Strange Junior Songwriting Competition is open to students in Years 9-11 who can submit a song on any topic or genre. All entries are judged by a panel including Louis Baker, Georgia Lines, Mike Chunn and CHAII.
