NZ Rep: Junior Elite Diving

Luka Guthrie (Year 11) is no stranger to putting her best foot forward - diving into the record books with a gold medal to add to her accomplishments!

Just one of 5 female divers selected to represent NZ at the Junior Elite level competitions in Europe, Luka and her synchronised diving partner Zara Roodt (Pinehurst School) secured 1st place (Gold) in Norway for their platform synchro diving.

Luka competed in the synchronised diving, platform diving, and spring-board diving categories during the Junior Elite level competitions, held in Europe: United Kingdom (Plymouth), Germany (Dresden) and Norway (Bergen).

She had a great trip and the whole team did well against a very high standard of athletes.

"A highlight was travelling as a team and taking part in new experiences," says Luka, who began diving at a young age.

"I started swimming at West Wave and watched my older brother who was diving and decided I wanted to do that, too."

Next on the diving agenda for Luka are the upcoming Nationals held in Auckland, and the Pacific Juniors held in Wellington.
