Light A Spark

GBHS Music Night 2025 'Light a Spark' was a brilliant showcase of the dedication, creativity, and passion of our students.
We are extremely proud of everyone who performed and contributed to making the evening such a success. Whānau, caregivers and friends left the event commenting on how incredible each performance was, often saying they couldn’t choose a favourite - a true testament to the talent of our students.
The evening featured performances from Year 9–13 students, including solo, duo, and group acts, as well as our Jazz Bands Greenies and Green Note, Funk Band, Rockapella, and Chamber Orchestra.
It was also a bittersweet moment, as this year marked our Year 13 students’ final Music Night. Thank you for sharing your talent and efforts with us over the years.
The auditorium was full of family and friends, while the green room buzzed with energy as students eagerly waited in the wings to perform. Afterwards, a sense of accomplishment and pride was shared with one another.
In total, 77 students were a part of the evening, with 25 performances!
The evening couldn't have been possible without the support of an outstanding team behind the scenes. A very special mention goes to all our itinerant teachers, Teresa Callaghan (Head of Faculty), Kerrily Aitchison (Teacher in Charge of Dance), and Magdalena Hoult (Performing Arts Manager), Paul Toilalo (sound technician) Marie Kepoa (trainee teacher), Kai Lawford (Yr 13 & stage manager), Alex Mackie (Yr 13 & lighting) and our seven stagehands. Thank you for your hard work in coordinating, managing, and ongoing support throughout the evening. This night was successful because of you.
The success of Music Night 2025 is a reflection of the dedication, creativity, and passion of everyone involved. We hope that the inspiration, skills, and confidence gained from this evening will continue to spark growth, creativity, and joy in all our students.
Here’s to many more nights of music!
We couldn’t be prouder of everyone involved.
