Ending Term 3 with a Bang:

Last week's sudden downpour put a damper on putting a chemical reaction theory to the test. However, today's conditions were conducive to a few oooh's and ahhhh's!

Year 9 and Year 10 students watched a scientific demonstration (by teachers Zev Fishman and Vivienne Milton) exploding sodium metal.

Sodium metal reacts with water to produce hydrogen gas, which can cause an explosion if trapped under the water's surface.
