Auckland Writers' Festival

Scholarship Students:

A group of GBHS Scholarship English students attended the Auckland Writers' Festival at Aotea Centre today, making the most of the opportunity to hear from inspirational writers from across Aotearoa New Zealand and the world.

The Auckland Writers' Festival Schools Programme | Hōtaka Kurai aims to inspire young writers and readers and celebrate the love of a good story.

Today's guest speakers were:

• 📖 Scotty Cotter (Aotearoa NZ)- Acclaimed playwright, actor and director
• 📖 Lee Murray (Aotearoa NZ) - Multiple award-winning speculative fiction writer
• 📖 Lemn Sissay (UK) - BAFTA-nominated, international prize-winning poet and author
• 📖 Neal Shusterman (US) - Acclaimed author of young adult fiction

Students made the most of having the opportunity to hear from guest authors, ask questions, and get books signed.
