GERMAN LANGUAGE CAMP:

Last week, a group of Year 11, 12 and 13 German language students from GBHS embarked on an enriching journey into the heart of German art and culture - as part of their German immersion camp, held at Mangawhai Heads, Whangarei.

Exploring the picturesque Bohemian settlement in Puhoi, students learned about its charm and history. Inspired by the renowned artist Hundertwasser, they unleashed their creativity by designing their own Hundertwasser-inspired t-shirts, showcasing some unique artistic flair.

As Hundertwasser's work often incorporated elements inspired by Māori culture, showcasing the interconnectedness of different cultural influences, students explored the intersections between German and Māori cultures, gaining insights into shared values, artistic expressions, and historical connections.

A highlight of the camp was the German tour at the Hundertwasser Arts Centre where students delved deeper into Hundertwasser's life, art, and philosophy. This immersive experience provided invaluable insights into the renowned artist's world, sparking thought-provoking discussions among the students. The day concluded with an engaging clay workshop.

Dankeschön to all who made this unforgettable journey possible!
