Ready for Action.

Year 11 student Alex Suddens (pictured above centre) has been selected to represent NZ Wrestling at the Oceania Championships, competing in U17 Freestyle 60kg category on 8-9 August 2023 in Sydney.

Alex will be attending the NZ Oceania team training camp in Katikati (23-24 June), before competing at North Island Wrestling Champs on Sunday 25th June, also held in Katikati.

Alex trains at Tukaha BJJ (Auckland HQ) and Karim’s Wrestling Academy (KWA). A keen wrestler since the age of 7 years old, Alex has competed in numerous competitions over the years, with a number of recent secondary school-aged accolades under his belt:

• Gold in the Junior U57kg: NZ secondary schools wrestling championships (2022)
• Silver in the Junior U61kg: NZ secondary schools wrestling championships (2022)
• Silver in the final of the U55kg Cadets (14-16yrs) NZ Wrestling Championships (2021)
• Double Golds in the No-Gi and Gi divisions NZ Grappler Wellington (2021)
• Double Golds in the Gi & No-Gi Jiu-jitsu Champs (2021)
• Auckland Wrestling Championships (2023)
• Waikato Wrestling Championships (2023)
