GBHS's Year 10 Photography course is designed to help students gain skills and knowledge in the Visual Arts, in preparation for NCEA Level 1 Visual Art courses offered at Year 11.
Students develop an understanding of a range of Photographic processes starting with the Photography Darkroom, learning how to create images without a camera using an enlarger and 'black & white' photography techniques.
In the first half of the semester, students construct a Pinhole Camera and learn how to use them to 'shoot' a range of Pinhole photos. In the second half of the semester students learn how to use a digital camera, planning shoots around photography conventions and how to use specialist studio lighting equipment.
Students will develop an understanding of the Adobe suite programmes including Photoshop, in addition to file management and printing processes on the Art department computers.
