Good Behaviour Tags (GBTs) and Praise Postcards are awarded to students in recognition of upholding our school values. GBTs are worth 'points' which can be exchanged for items at the PB4L shop, situated behind L6. Priase Postcards are posted home. GBTs and Praise Postcards are part of our GBHS's Positive Behaviour for Learning (PB4L) system - managing (responding to) behaviour based on positive approaches to build and maintain relationships.
PB4L is evidence based and links strongly to our pre-existing values. Many of our feeder schools also use the PB4L framework, and that connection creates consistency for our students in their transition from Primary, to Intermediate, and to Secondary School. We know it works and will benefit our students as there is a strong correlation between the implementation of PB4L and the success of our students; both academically and their holistic well being.
Student Volunteer Army (SVA) awards are part of a nationally recognised framework for intermediate and secondary school students to log their volunteering hours and receive recognition for their contribution, whether it's within their school, whānau, or neighbourhood.
