BUILDING SOLID FOUNDATIONS:

Pictured above are Year 11 Construction students Hara Haynes, Kaia Lind-Manga and Jade Dockery proudly displaying their completed step-stools. 01CON students gain experience in planning and managing materials and tools, working on carpentry and joinery projects and completing theory work booklets to show subject knowledge. Construction focuses on developing practical skills and uses Unit Standards developed and moderated by the Building Construction Industry Training Organisation (BCITO).

Year 12 Engineering students are busily working on the construction of their trolley, building on skills developed in the Level 1 Engineering course. GBHS's 02EGR course offers Unit Standards that are industry-level, and are requirements for Engineering trades apprentices. Credits earned are cross-credited if students enter into a relevant apprenticeship, or tertiary training towards such careers as general engineering, machining, tool making, fitting, engineering maintenance, fabrication, and marine engineering.
