Sailing Grand Prix

Alexis Heckler (Year 12) is setting sail in the Grand Prix of New Zealand sailing!

Recently selected for the SailGP Inspire Racing WASZP programme, Alexis will soon be heading to Christchurch to take part in three days of training, with hands-on experience sailing in a foiling Waszp, in the lead-up to the ITM New Zealand Sail Grand Prix.

Alexis is looking forward to getting behind the scenes of SailGP, meeting prominent world-class sailors and racing on the same waters in 'curtain raiser' races before the main SailGP regatta (in similar conditions to the America's Cup).

This programme is highly competitive, with the winning top male and female competitors invited to participate in the SailGP Grand Final in San Francisco!

The SailGP INSPIRE program in conjunction with WASZP is a well-known talent identification pathway for young sailors, to help them gain exposure on a world stage, offering once-in-a-lifetime career and racing opportunities.
