COLLEGE SPORT ARCHERY COMPETITION: 1st PLACE!
Congratulations to the following students for keeping their sights on the target during the 2024 College Sport Archery Competition, securing 1st place in the Compound Team event, and remaining undefeated in all 5 rounds!
It was a very proud moment for team manager, Nikki Matheson and avid supporter. Katherine Winson (who drove most of the students to One Tree Hill every Wednesday) at the College Sport Archery League prize-giving, held last night.
"Our school has no archery program, and our kids are competing with schools that do, with coaches coming to every event," says Nikki.
"So, in context, our Green Bay High students have done incredibly well."
Throughout the season archers competed in a round-robin format, with the total team score at the end determining placings for the match. All archers also competed in an individual competition with each archer awarded ranked points based on their weekly score. Final placings are based on total cumulative ranked points.
Green Bay High School Compound Team 1st Place: Compound Individual (26 Individuals competing)
- Levi Matheson 3rd
- Jesse Matheson 7th
Green Bay High School Recurve Team Division 5: 3rd Place: Recurve Individual (152 Individuals competing)
- Fern Buley 40th
- Ethan Winson 63rd
Barebow: (54 Individuals competing)
- Nathan Bennett 24th
- Jackson Dallow 44th Nathan and Jackson were also part of the Recurve team (as 4 archers are needed).
"Nathan did extremely well, considering he doesn't shoot at a club," says Nikki, adding "and Jackson should be proud as he had no training and was a backyard shooter."
